The Certified Infant Massage Teacher Course (CIMT) is coming to Smithers, located in beautiful Northern British Columbia. This Accredited 3-day professional training, taught by Master Teacher Tina Allen, will be held at Community Action Program for Children (CAP-C).
At the 1990 United Nations World Summit for Children, the leaders of 71 countries made a commitment to invest in the well-being of vulnerable children. The Government of Canada responded with the Child Development Initiative (CDI). CAPC is the largest programme of this initiative.
CAPC provides long term funding to community coalitions to deliver programs that address the health and development of children (0-6 years) who are living in conditions of risk. It recognizes that communities have the ability to identify and respond to the needs of children and places a strong emphasis on partnerships and community capacity building.
Nestled beneath “the mountain,” the town of Smithers is located in the Bulkley Valley of northwestern British Columbia, directly on the Trans Canada Yellowhead Highway (Route 16), approximately half way between the cities of Prince Rupert and Prince George, right in the heart of BC.
From waterfalls to concert halls, visitors quickly find out what makes this place so special. Where else could you revel in the solitude of a rocky peak, dance to live music by Juno award-winning artists and experience the thrill of viewing black bears gorging berries on the roadside - and all these events on the same day?
Smithers, home to about 6000 people, is a regional service center for the entire Bulkley Valley and, therefore, offers many more amenities than you would normally see in a town of this size—including a great recreation centre, a fantastic ski hill, and an active regional airport. The town is set against the backdrop of Hudson Bay Mountain to the west and the Babine Mountain range to the east which makes a very picturesque setting. It also makes for quick and easy access to the backcountry which makes it a great base for outdoor recreational pursuits during all phases of the year. Smithers is well-known for its fishing and hunting, downhill and cross-country skiing, golfing, snowmobiling, canoeing and kayaking among other things. Coupled with a range of indoor recreation opportunities and urban features — great restaurants, shops, music, spas, art gallery & museum — Smithers has something for everyone.
Because of their distance from major centers, Smithers offers all the services you would ever want. Seven outdoor shops, three bookstores, and many great coffee shops might give you an idea about what the locals think is important. Our downhill and cross-country ski areas, which enjoy lots of natural dry powder, are within 20 minutes of town. Hiking trails, peaceful canoe routes or exciting white water rivers are a short drive away too.
The famous steelhead run which starts in September makes this month the busiest time and the red brick sidewalks on Main Street are filled with fishermen from South America, New Zealand, Europe and the US.

Finally, an accredited infant massage certification program for professionals, caregivers and those wanting to begin a new career in the wonderful world of infant massage. The Liddle Kidz Foundation Certification course is an intense, fun and effective way to master the core skills of infant massage.
Founded by master teacher and philanthropist Tina Allen, the Liddle Kidz Foundation offers a new, comprehensive, research based training course and teaches students what they really need to know to become a professional infant massage teacher.
Any experienced infant massage teacher will tell you that there is a world of difference between learning how to massage a baby from a book or DVD, and knowing how to provide the best care to meet a families needs, however, there are few opportunities to learn the skills they really need from a working healthcare professional who has provided infant massage education throughout the world.
As a CIMT, you have the special opportunity to impact an infant and their family for a lifetime.
