Not sure what causes colic . . .
. . . don't worry you're not alone. The cause of colic has not yet been absolutely defined. Although, one thing is certain, if your baby is experiencing colic - this is not your fault. As a parent you are not doing anything wrong.
Is your baby experiencing the symptoms of colic?
Use this space to share your thoughts, vent about your stressful times, and learn from others who have also been through this trying time too.

my baby had colic
He cried and cried. It was the worst and so stressful. I tried everything and found the best thing that worked for him was baby massage on his tummy. It worked really well to help Sean get rid of his and made his tummy feel softer afterwards. I think he liked the Sun & Moon the best.

Wonderful!
Hi Melinda,
I'm so happy to hear that you had such positive results from using infant massage. I would love to know if you are using massage with your daughter too.

Hi Orietta,
Massaging a baby can be very soothing for both parent and child. Many times it does relive some of the discomfort associated with gas in baby's tummy.
The best first step would be to find a qualified infant massage instructor in your area. Have you had any luck with finding someone who can teach you infant massage? I would be happy to try and help you locate someone.

I've been enjoying reading Dr. Harvey Karp's "Happiest Baby on the Block." Unfor****tely it wasn't published in time for my first child who we REALLY needed the information for, and there was so much hype about it by the time I was prego with my second that I shunned it for being a 'parenting magic pill' without actually looking into it. It's now always included in my baby shower gift!
My thoughts are that between Dr. Karp's Five S's and infant massage, colic and colic-like-symptoms will be hard-pressed to be bothersome to most parents. *grin*
