Default Reactive Attachment Disorder (RAD)

Does anyone know anything about Reactive Attachment Disorder? My friends have an adoptive child and their doctor said that the child is experiencing symptoms of RAD. I did a lilttle reading on the internet but don't know to much about it.

I wondered if maybe massage might help them. Anyone have any experience with this?

hi max,

i don't have experience with massage for RAD but i have heard of it before. a friend of mine had a little girl that when she was adopted also had been diagnosed with RAD. they gave her lots of love and nurturing and she seems to be growing out of some of those symptoms now. i think time really heals.

i would be curious to know if massage may be helpful for this condition.

Hi there,

I have worked with a number of families who have children that have been diagnosed with reactive attachment disorder. An important aspect of providing touch therapy for children who have been diagnosed with RAD is to move at their pace and introduce touch very slowly. Bonding and attachment is a process that takes time and massage therapy can aide in this process.
