Default HELP - my BF just had a Preemie!

My BF since we were little just had a preemie born at 28 weeks. The baby is in the hospital in the neonatal intensive care unit and my friend is so sad. Her and her husband are both really scared and they don't know what's going to happen. Has anyone else gone through this? I don't know how to help them? What can I do?

Hi Melinda,

The best thing for your friend right now is for you to just be available for support. She may need a shoulder to cry on, a kind ear or a hug. Just be there for her anyway you can.

Yes finally the baby went home yesterday. The whole family seems to doing pretty good and they have some help with more family members. I have done my best to be really supportive for everyone and you are right that's really all you can do. I stayed pretty late last night to help with some stuff around the house so they could just pay attention to the baby. I haven't heard from them yet today, but right now I think no news is good news. The baby is just beautiful and I think everything will be fine.

Default preemies

Hi Melinda,

Like Tina said, just being there to support your best friend can help an awful lot. Hope the baby will be all right.

Default Groups for Preemie Parents

Oops! I think I should have posted here. But anyway I helped my friend join this great group for parents who have babies that are preemies. She loves it because now she can talk to ther parents going through the same thing and also she dones't feel all alone.
