Improving the quality of touch of a parent to child is a wonderful skill to develop. We believe touch is one of the simplest and most effective ways for parents to encourage their child's growth and development. Because touch is your baby’s first language it becomes even more important to focus our attentions on communicating with baby in a language they will understand.
In our Developmental Baby Massage course we introduce a unique level of confidence and relaxation that is reflected in the health and nature of your baby and your relationship. These techniques will also encourage your baby's physical and mental development as well as structural fitness. Massage promotes muscular coordination and flexibility, and will deepen your baby’s breathing rhythm, promote relaxation, aid digestion and strengthen your baby's immune system. Developmental Baby Massage can also help you to alleviate your baby’s birth trauma and other early infant anxieties.
As our babies grow, we want to set a strong foundation to give them the strength and guidance children need to grow up healthy and strong. Developmental Baby Massage is the perfect preparation for coordinated movement and mobility and will set your baby on his or her feet with “perfect posture” both sitting and standing.
At the beginning of the course a variety of developmental assessments are performed and individualized programs are recommended to encourage development of gross and fine motor coordination. During our baby massage class you will learn massage techniques developed by physical therapist, Peter Walker, who possesses over thirty years of experience in the field of pediatric health. These developmental massage techniques enable you to provide your baby with strength and flexibility in all the right places.
Our Developmental Baby Massage classes are structured to be offered on a weekly basis in a group infant-family setting and can also be offered privately on a one-on-one parent-baby basis. However you chose to learn baby massage, your child will surely benefit. Baby massage is a natural response, or answer, to your baby's inherent need for tactile stimulation. It is recommended that when you attend class your baby also attends to receive full benefit of the course. If you are an expectant parent who is interested in attending Developmental Baby Massage, please contact us to discuss how we might be able to support you.
After your baby begins to receive Developmental Baby Massage, with every breath they take, your child can receive more oxygen with less effort and together you will feel more connected. What a wonderful gift to give your child, your loving touch which leads to healthier and happier development throughout their childhood and beyond.
"The belly is an emotional centre. Relax the belly and you relax the baby"
